Ambush Bay (1966) is a Pacific War picture in which a nine-man Marine patrol lands on a Japanese-held Philippine island to reach an agent carrying word that the enemy has uncovered MacArthur's invasion plan. It is a Mickey Rooney and Hugh O'Brian vehicle, directed by Ron Winston and shot on location in the Philippines. Joaquin Fajardo plays Captain Koyamatsu, one of the Japanese officers the patrol is trying to slip past.

A Rolex Datejust has been attributed to Koyamatsu, and the date alone makes it a problem. Rolex introduced the Datejust in 1945, to mark the company's fortieth anniversary, as the first self-winding, waterproof, chronometer-certified wristwatch with a date window. The film is set in 1944, a year before the watch existed. No clear on-screen view survives to settle what is actually on the officer's wrist, so the Datejust stays a possibility, and a chronologically awkward one.
