Kiss of the Dragon (2001) is Jet Li at his most stripped-down, a Beijing agent named Liu Jian dropped into Paris and framed for a murder he is trying to stop. Chris Nahon directed it from a Luc Besson story, and Li does most of his own work, including the acupuncture that runs through the film: Liu carries a leather wristlet of needles and finishes the corrupt inspector Richard, played by Tcheky Karyo, with one of them.
The watch he wears throughout is not a real brand. The production built it to look like a Swatch, leather strap and all, the sort of cheap, honest plastic watch that suits a man who travels light and kills with a needle. Propstore sold it alongside the wristlet and a page of production sketches, screen-worn and authenticated, which makes the imitation Swatch the watch of record for Liu Jian whether or not Swatch ever made it.
