Tree Gelbman wakes up in a stranger's dorm bed on her birthday, hung over and irritable, and by nightfall she is dead, only to wake up in that same bed again. Happy Death Day, the 2017 Blumhouse slasher directed by Christopher Landon, runs Jessica Rothe's sorority queen through the same murdered morning until she works out who is killing her. On her wrist through the loop is a Timex Ironman, the brand's digital sports line, caught here in a dark scene with the green INDIGLO backlight switched on.
The display is sitting in chrono mode, a running stopwatch rather than the time of day, which is a fitting thing to find on a character condemned to live the same hours over and over. The dial reads TIMEX in red with the INDIGLO wordmark below, on a pink resin strap wrapped in a red-and-orange case, a thin rose-gold chain bracelet riding alongside it, the small styling choice that fixes her as a college student rather than an athlete. The model is the Ironman Sleek 50, reference TW5M02800, the slimmer mid-size variant, a 38mm resin case with a 50-lap stopwatch, three alarms, a dated training log, the INDIGLO night-light, and 100 meters of water resistance. Timex introduced the Ironman in 1986 and it became one of the best-selling watches in the world, which is to say the prop here is not a luxury statement but the most ordinary watch imaginable, the affordable digital companion of every gym class and morning run.
