In Glenn Gordon Caron's 1997 comedy Picture Perfect, there is a scene at a tennis match where Kate Mosley sits in the stands with a cigarette in one hand and Sam Mayfair beside her. On her left wrist is a steel watch on a steel bracelet.

Jennifer Aniston plays Kate, an advertising executive in New York who is good at her job and cannot get promoted for it. Her fix is to invent a fiance, a freelance videographer named Nick she has met exactly once, so her boss will trust a woman who looks settled. Sam Mayfair, played by Kevin Bacon, is the colleague she actually wants, and he starts paying attention only once she appears taken. The watch is a Rolex Oyster Perpetual on a steel Oyster bracelet. Montres-de-luxe, the French watch site that logged the appearance, noted that it is a men's model rather than a smaller women's size.

The Oyster Perpetual is the plainest thing Rolex makes: no date, no rotating bezel, nothing but the hands and a self-winding movement sealed inside the waterproof Oyster case Hans Wilsdorf patented in 1926. In the tennis scene the dial is too far from the camera to read a name, but the steel case and the flat three-link bracelet are exactly what an Oyster Perpetual on its Oyster band looks like.
