Jean-Paul Belmondo wears a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona

A killer who phones his victims before he kills them, naming the secrets he has dug out of their lives, stalks Paris in Henri Verneuil's Peur sur la ville. Jean-Paul Belmondo plays Commissaire Jean Letellier, the detective chasing the man, who signs himself Minos. The film runs on Belmondo's stunts, most of them his own: he hangs off a moving Métro train and runs across the rooftops of Paris with a gun, and Verneuil keeps the camera close enough that you can see it is really him.

The watch is a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, and it was Belmondo's own. Rolex built the Daytona from 1963 as a chronograph for drivers, naming it after the Florida speedway and ringing the dial with a tachymeter scale for reading speed off elapsed time. Belmondo's was the steel reference 6263, the version collectors call the Big Red for the red Daytona script above the bottom sub-dial, and he wore it off-screen and across his films of the period, back when actors supplied their own watches rather than having them placed. In 2013 Christie's sold that exact watch for 165,000 euros.
