In Philippe Labro's L'Alpagueur (1976), released in English as Hunter Will Get You, Jean-Paul Belmondo plays Roger Pilard, a freelance bounty hunter who works alone and is hired by the government, through an inspector named Doumecq, to bring in a killer the police cannot catch. The killer is L'Épervier, the Sparrow Hawk, played by Bruno Cremer, who recruits young men for his bank robberies and murders each one when the job is done. Labro built the film as a French answer to the American crime thriller, two hard professionals closing on each other.

On Pilard's wrist is a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, and it was Belmondo's own. Rolex launched the Daytona in 1963 as a driver's chronograph, its bezel a tachymeter for reading speed off elapsed time. Belmondo's was the steel reference 6263, the version collectors call the Big Red, and he wore it on screen across his films of these years and off screen as well, from a time when actors still brought their own watches to a set. In 2013 Christie's sold it for 165,000 euros.
