Eric Rochant's Möbius (2013) is a cool-toned spy thriller set in Monaco. Jean Dujardin plays Gregory Lioubov, an FSB officer running an operation against a financier played by Tim Roth, while a market prodigy played by Cécile de France pulls him off course. On Lioubov's wrist is an F.P. Journe Octa Calendrier, the annual-calendar watch in Journe's Octa line, with a date hand that sweeps a retrograde arc across an off-center dial.
The placement was a milestone for the watch rather than the film. It was the first time an F.P. Journe had appeared in a feature, a debut the small Geneva independent put on its own website. Journe builds fewer than a thousand watches a year, sold to collectors who already know the name, so an appearance on Dujardin's wrist was a rare outing in front of a wide audience.
