Jean-Claude Brialy wears a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso

Luis Buñuel co-wrote The Phantom of Liberty with Jean-Claude Carrière, the middle film of his late French trilogy, between The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie and That Obscure Object of Desire. It has no plot in the usual sense. Vignettes bleed into each other: dinner guests sit on toilets around a table, police hunt for a missing girl who is standing right in front of them, a sniper shoots strangers from a rooftop and is sentenced to death, then released. Buñuel was seventy-four.

Jean-Claude Brialy plays Monsieur Foucauld in the film's opening section, with Monica Vitti as his wife; Michel Piccoli and Adolfo Celi, who appears as a doctor, are among the rest of the ensemble. A French watch site identifies Brialy's watch as a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, the rectangular Art Deco model built in 1931 with a case that slides over and flips, so polo players could turn the crystal facedown and protect it during a match. That single mention is the only source, and the watch is not visible in the surviving stills.
