Handsome Rob earns his nickname the way everyone on the crew earns theirs, by being exactly one thing. He is the wheelman. In F. Gary Gray's 2003 remake of The Italian Job, Jason Statham plays the getaway driver on Charlie Croker's team, the member whose whole job is to look good and drive fast. After the gold is stolen out from under the crew in Venice, the team reassembles in Los Angeles for the revenge, and the centerpiece is a chase that sends a fleet of Mini Coopers down storm-drain channels, through a pedestrian plaza, and into the Metro tunnels, with Rob behind the wheel for the worst of it.
The watch on his left wrist is harder to name than the car. On screen, a polished steel chronograph sits on a dark strap, its dark dial carrying two sub-registers. No maker's mark reads cleanly, and no watch publication or auction record has documented the prop, so the brand and model stay open. What the picture settles is the basic shape: a chronograph on a strap, not a steel-bracelet diver. Statham has since become a well-known watch collector in his own right, but the piece Rob wears here is present, clearly seen, and still unnamed.
