On the night Tibu Campallo retires, the Bangkok shipping magnate hands out Rolexes. One goes to Kameron Campallo, who was born to the fortune. The other goes to Cole Reed, the former policeman who has guarded Tibu since saving his life five years earlier, and Tibu calls it a watch for a man of action. Soon after, Tibu is killed in an ambush, Reed is framed for it, and the watch stays on his wrist for the rest of Jean-François Richet's Mutiny, which Lionsgate released on August 21, 2026.

The gift is a Rolex Submariner in its no-date form: Oystersteel case, black dial with no date window and no magnifier, black ceramic bezel, Oyster bracelet, 300 m of water resistance. Rolex has made a ceramic no-date Submariner since 2012, first as the 40 mm reference 114060 and from 2020 as the 41 mm 124060, which brought calibre 3230 and 70 hours of reserve. The film's key art shows it in close-up on Jason Statham's wrist beside a drawn pistol.

Reed boards the KMG cargo ship Artemis posing as one of the dead assassins, and in the hold he ends up trapped in a ventilation shaft. He gets out by turning the Rolex's clasp into a screwdriver and backing out the screws on the vent cover. The Oysterlock clasp and its Glidelock extension were built so a diver could resize the bracelet over a wetsuit without tools, and in Mutiny the clasp becomes the tool.

Rolex introduced the Submariner in 1953 as a diver's watch rated to 100 m, a third of what Reed's can take.
