Jamie Dornan wears an Omega Seamaster

In his glass penthouse high above Seattle, the city lights spread out behind him at dusk, Christian Grey kneels to take Anastasia Steele's face in both hands. Jamie Dornan plays Grey in Sam Taylor-Johnson's Fifty Shades of Grey (2015), the young Seattle billionaire at the center of E.L. James's trilogy. As he reaches for her, the watch comes into view on his left wrist: a steel chronograph on a brown leather strap.

It is an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M Co-Axial Chronograph, reference 231.13.44.50.02.001. The case is 44mm steel, the dial silver and lined in the horizontal teak pattern Omega runs across the Aqua Terra range, with three subdials and the co-axial caliber 3313 turning behind a display back. The Aqua Terra is Omega's dress-sport line, a watch built to pass at a desk and survive a swim, and the chronograph is the expensive end of it, around 7,200 dollars.

The books never name the reference. E.L. James writes only that Grey wears 'an Omega with three small dials,' one line that sent watch readers arguing over whether three dials meant a Speedmaster Moonwatch or the Aqua Terra Chronograph. An official Universal press still, Grey's wrist in clear view, settled the question on the Aqua Terra.
