Jeff Fowler directed Sonic the Hedgehog, a live-action adaptation of the Sega video game. James Marsden plays Tom Wachowski, the sheriff of Green Hills, Montana, who discovers Sonic hiding in his garage and ends up on a road trip to help the hedgehog recover his lost rings. Jim Carrey plays Dr. Robotnik. Ben Schwartz voices Sonic. The film was delayed after fans reacted badly to the original Sonic design, and the redesign worked. It made $319 million.
Wachowski wears a Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical 38mm on a NATO strap. The H-50 hand-wound movement gives it an 80-hour power reserve, which is generous for a hand-winder. On a small-town sheriff who dreams of something bigger (he has applied to the San Francisco Police Department), the Khaki Field is a practical, unglamorous choice. It says more about who Wachowski is than any flashier watch would.
Marsden wears the same Hamilton Khaki Field in both Sonic the Hedgehog films. The watch stays with the character across both entries, which is the kind of costuming consistency that usually only happens when a prop department is paying attention or when an actor brings his own watch to set.
