James Logan wears an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore

The Mechanic opens with Jason Statham's Arthur Bishop drowning a man in a swimming pool while the guards walk past. The man is Jorge Lara, a Colombian cartel boss played by James Logan, and the watch on his wrist is an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore, the last expensive thing he will ever own. Simon West directed this remake of the 1972 Charles Bronson film. The original was a quiet character study; this version is a Jason Statham action picture and knows it.

The Royal Oak Offshore is the oversized, sport-hardened descendant of the Royal Oak that Gerald Genta designed for Audemars Piguet in 1972, launched in 1993 as a larger and louder luxury sports watch. On a cartel boss beside his own pool it reads as the kind of watch a man buys to be seen in. A watch-spotting listing names the specific edition as the Royal Oak Offshore Alinghi Polaris, but that source is not reliable, the claim is uncorroborated, and the dial is not legible on screen, so the identification stays at the Offshore family.
