James Farentino wears a Rolex Submariner

A nuclear aircraft carrier sails into a strange storm off Hawaii and comes out the other side on December 6, 1941, the day before Pearl Harbor. Don Taylor's The Final Countdown (1980) hands that premise to Kirk Douglas as Captain Yelland, who commands the USS Nimitz, with Martin Sheen aboard as a civilian defense analyst and James Farentino as Commander Richard Owens, the carrier's air wing commander weighing what it would mean to send F-14 Tomcats against the Japanese fleet. Katharine Ross and Charles Durning play people the ship pulls out of 1941.

In the scene where Owens studies a document alongside Yelland and the analyst, a watch sits on his left wrist: a steel sports watch with a dark dial, a dive bezel, and a matching bracelet. Rolex introduced exactly that profile with the Submariner in 1953, and a French watch-in-film column does call this one a steel Submariner. But the brand is not legible on screen, the listing gives no source, and plenty of steel divers share the same outline, so it is a likely Rolex Submariner rather than a sure one.
