Antoine Fuqua's The Guilty (2021) is a remake of Gustav Möller's Danish film Den skyldige, and it never leaves a 911 call center. Jake Gyllenhaal plays Joe Baylor, a demoted Los Angeles cop working dispatch, who spends one long shift trying to talk a kidnapped woman to safety over the phone. The whole film holds on his face and his voice.
On his wrist is a Casio G-Shock GA110-1B, the watch Hodinkee singled out in its Watching Movies column. The GA110 is one of the larger G-Shocks, an analog-digital model with a case around 51mm wide and 17mm thick, in black resin on the line's double-buckle strap, with mineral glass and 200 meters of water resistance. It runs well under $150 and shrugs off abuse, which is the whole G-Shock idea. As Hodinkee put it, the G-Shock is a police officer's watch.
