Yves Robert directed Le Bal des casse-pieds (1992) and wrote it with Jean-Loup Dabadie, one of the great French screen-dialogue writers. The title translates loosely as "the ball of bores," and the film is a comedy about Henri Sauveur, a tolerant veterinarian played by Jean Rochefort, who weathers a parade of irritating people before escaping with a new love. Jacques Villeret plays Jerome, one of the pests in Henri's orbit.
Jerome has been identified as wearing an Ebel Classic Wave, a Swiss watch from the era when integrated bracelets were in fashion, with the wave-pattern bracelet that became an Ebel signature. Ebel marketed itself as "the architects of time" and built a reputation for slim, polished dress watches. The identification comes from a single watch-spotting site, and the watch is not visible in the available stills, so it stays unconfirmed.
