Michelangelo Antonioni's The Passenger (1975) follows David Locke, a burned-out journalist who assumes a dead stranger's identity and drifts across Europe and North Africa into the dead man's dangerous life. Jack Nicholson plays him with weary detachment.

One close shot lingers on Locke's watch: a steel piece on a Jubilee-style bracelet, with a pale dial and an outer ring around it. It has been identified as a Seiko World Time, the reference 6217-7000 that in 1964 became Seiko's first world-timer, carrying a rotating ring of city names for reading the hour in other zones. But the frame is soft, the city ring never resolves clearly enough to confirm, and the identification rests on a single crowdsourced spotting rather than on the screen itself or any watch publication.
