Jack Lemmon won the Oscar for this, which says something about where Hollywood's head was in 1973. Save the Tiger is not a fun watch. John G. Avildsen directed Lemmon as Harry Stoner, a Los Angeles garment manufacturer who spends two days trying to save his business by arranging to burn down his own warehouse for the insurance money. Harry picks up a young hitchhiker, visits a strip club with clients, remembers seeing the Dodgers play at Ebbets Field, and argues with his partner Phil (Jack Gilford, who was also nominated) about whether committing arson makes them criminals or just businessmen doing what businessmen do.
The featured image is a promotional still, and no watch is visible on Lemmon's wrist. The existing description of a gold rectangular piece hasn't been confirmed. Whatever Harry Stoner wears, it belongs to a man who used to believe in what he was building and now just wants to survive one more season.
