James Watkins directed Idris Elba in Bastille Day as Sean Briar, a CIA agent in Paris who ends up chained to a young American pickpocket, played by Richard Madden, after the kid lifts a bag that turns out to be holding a bomb. The case drags both of them into a conspiracy run by rogue French police. The film had bad luck with its own title: its French run was cut short after the July 14, 2016 truck attack in Nice, which fell on the real Bastille Day.
The watch on Briar's wrist is a different kind of mystery. No watch publication, no brand placement, and not even a crowd-sourced spotting site names it, and the one reference ever attached to this sighting was a bare IMDb title page that says nothing about props. Elba is a serious watch collector off screen, but that says nothing about what the costume department put on Sean Briar. In the stills that exist his wrist is never framed closely enough to read a dial. Until a clearer frame or a real source turns up, the watch stays unidentified.
