In 1936, Humphrey Bogart was still six years away from Casablanca and stuck in the contract system at Warner Bros., taking whatever roles the studio assigned. Two Against the World is a B-picture remake of Five Star Final (1931), with Bogart playing Sherry Scott, a radio station manager whose boss decides to rake up an old murder case for ratings. The film runs barely an hour and exists mostly as filler in Bogart's pre-stardom filmography, but he is already doing the thing that would make him famous — playing a man with a conscience who is compromised by the system he works in.
A watch is visible on Bogart's wrist in a scene where he sits at a table with a cigarette. It appears to be a small round dress watch on a dark strap, typical of the mid-1930s, but the black-and-white image makes identification impossible.
