Hugh Jackman wears a Victorinox Original

Bronson Peary never existed. The real Michael "Eddie" Edwards had no hard-drinking American coach at the 1988 Calgary Olympics. Dexter Fletcher directed Eddie the Eagle (2016) with a screenplay by Simon Kelton and Sean Macaulay that is roughly 85% fiction wrapped around the true story of a British plasterer who taught himself ski jumping and became his country's first Olympic entry in the event since 1929. Taron Egerton plays Eddie. Hugh Jackman plays the invented coach, a former US ski jumping prospect who burned out and ended up grooming snow in Germany.

The Victorinox Original on Jackman's wrist is green with a matching NATO nylon strap and a 40mm case. He wears it upside down on his right wrist in some scenes, which could be a character choice or just Jackman not paying attention between takes. The Original is one of Victorinox's most basic watches. No chronograph, no complications, nothing flashy. It is the kind of watch a snow groomer would actually own. In a film about an underdog who can barely afford equipment, putting a Rolex on the coach would have been wrong.
