H.B. Halicki wrote, directed, produced, and starred in Gone in 60 Seconds on his own money. He also did his own stunts, including a 128-foot jump in a 1973 Ford Mustang that compressed ten of his vertebrae. The 1974 film is essentially a 40-minute car chase with 55 minutes of setup, and close to 90 cars were destroyed during production. Halicki plays Maindrian Pace, an insurance investigator who runs a car theft ring on the side, contracted by a South American drug lord to steal 48 cars in five days. The last on the list — a Mustang codenamed Eleanor — is the one that nearly kills him.

The existing sighting record described Pace's watch as gold and rectangular, but the only available image is a promotional poster of Eleanor, so the details can't be confirmed visually. The brand hasn't been identified. Halicki died in 1989 during a stunt for a planned sequel when a falling water tower severed a cable that hit him — which tells you something about the kind of filmmaker who would compress his own spine for a car jump and then plan to do it again.
