Gina Gershon wears a Rolex

Olivier Assayas's Demonlover is a corporate thriller that slides into something much worse. A French company is fighting an American one for the distribution rights to a Japanese studio's 3-D hentai, and the negotiations are full of espionage, double agents, and sabotage. Connie Nielsen plays Diane de Monx, an executive on the French side; Chloe Sevigny plays Elise Lipsky, her assistant, who turns out to be more than an assistant. Gina Gershon plays Elaine Si Gibril, who represents the American buyer, a firm called demonlover that is itself a front for the Hellfire Club, an interactive torture site streaming real violence on demand.

The watch is where this one gets thin. Elaine has been identified as wearing a Rolex Explorer, but the only support ever offered for that was Rolex's own product page for the Explorer, which proves the watch exists and says nothing about whether it appears in the film. No watch publication, aggregator, or forum places any Rolex on Gershon in Demonlover, and the available frames do not show a watch clearly enough to confirm a brand, never mind a model. The honest version is short: a Rolex has been claimed for the character, the Explorer reading has nothing behind it, and nothing on screen settles the question.
