Greenland 2: Migration sends the Garrity family out of a collapsing bunker in Greenland and across a wrecked Europe, five years after the comet Clarke wiped out most of the world. They are heading for a crater in southern France that a scientist believes could still sustain life. Gerard Butler is back as John Garrity, an engineer now carrying radiation sickness from his scouting runs. Morena Baccarin returns as his wife Allison, and Roman Griffin Davis plays a now teenage Nathan, taking over from Roger Dale Floyd. Ric Roman Waugh directs again, and Lionsgate put the film in US theaters in January 2026. The watch Garrity wears is a Festina.
The reference is a Festina Swiss Made Chronograph, F20042/4. It is a 44mm stainless steel chronograph with a black dial, a ceramic bezel, a sapphire crystal, and a Swiss quartz movement, water resistant to 100 meters on a steel bracelet. It lists for around 450 dollars. The French watch site Montres de Luxe identified it in its standing column on watches in movies, and the pick was not a coincidence: Butler has been a Festina ambassador since 2016.
Festina had been on Garrity's wrist before. In the first Greenland, in 2020, the brand placed a chronograph on Butler and let it run as the film's countdown to the comet, on screen in shot after shot. By the sequel the comet has already fallen, so the same kind of watch keeps a humbler sort of time, marking the long days of the migration rather than the hours to impact.
Festina promoted the placement around the film's release and, in Mexico, offered a limited run of ten watches in the exact look worn on screen. The watch a doomsday movie strapped to its hero is, in the catalog, a sub-500-dollar quartz chronograph you can also buy with a green or white dial.
