Netflix released Heart of Stone on August 11, 2023, Tom Harper directing from a Greg Rucka and Allison Schroeder script, and shot it across South Tyrol, Reykjavik, Lisbon, Morocco, and London. Gal Gadot plays Rachel Stone, an MI6 field agent who is secretly working for the Charter, a peacekeeping outfit that runs its missions on a quantum computer called the Heart. The Heart gets stolen. Stone spends the rest of the film getting it back.
On her wrist, in the film and dead center on the key art where she stands with her arms crossed, sits a Hublot Big Bang e Gen3 Black Magic: a 44 millimeter smartwatch in microblasted and polished black ceramic, an AMOLED touchscreen under anti-reflective sapphire, Wear OS inside, 30 meters of water resistance, a black structured rubber strap, and a price of 5,400 dollars at release. Time+Tide noted that the watch camouflages itself well against her black suit, catering to that stealth agent feel, and registered one regret, calling the plain production model a potentially missed opportunity for a special edition. WatchPro traced the choice back to the house line: founded in 1980, the Nyon brand built its name on what it calls the Art of Fusion, and a ceramic case wrapped around Google software is that slogan made literal.
There is a symmetry the film leaves alone: the agent guarding a quantum computer wears a computer. Critics found the plotting generic; the audience came anyway, nearly 110 million views, enough to make it Netflix's second most watched film of the back half of 2023.
