Frankie Faison wears a Charles Dumont

Pop wears a straw hat with a feather in the band and runs the barber shop everyone in Harlem agrees to call Switzerland, the one room where the guns stay outside. Marvel's Luke Cage (2016) makes Henry Hunter, the reformed gangster behind the chair, the neighborhood's conscience. Frankie Faison plays the man who hands Luke Cage a broom and a reason to stay. Early in the first season, gunmen after someone he is shielding spray the shop, and Pop dies in the crossfire that sends Cage after Harlem's bosses.

Pop dressed like the elder statesman he was. Propstore later sold his costume from the show: the embroidered Pop's Barber Shop work shirt, a green silk shirt tagged 'Pop #8', the straw hat, two rings, and his watch. The watch is a Charles Dumont, a white-dialed stainless steel watch on a black leather strap, with Arabic numerals and the word QUARTZ printed on the face. It is an inexpensive fashion watch, the right call for a proud man on a barber's income who wanted to look respectable more than rich.

The name reads like a Paris house. The movement, by the dial's own fine print, is Japanese quartz. Propstore graded the lot good condition, noting a broken clasp on the watch, and sold it on 15 October 2020 with a certificate of authenticity.
