The survival-horror formula requires two things from its final girl: resourcefulness and a refusal to die quietly. Eliza Dushku brings both to Wrong Turn (2003), Rob Schmidt's backwoods horror about a group of stranded motorists hunted by cannibalistic mountain men in West Virginia. Desmond Harrington, Emmanuelle Chriqui, and Jeremy Sisto play the other unlucky travelers. The film is mean, efficient, and not interested in explaining its monsters beyond generations of inbreeding.

Dushku's Timex Expedition is exactly the watch Jessie Burlingame would wear. Timex has been making affordable, durable watches since 1854, and the Expedition line was built for outdoor use: Indiglo backlight for reading in the dark, water resistance, a nylon strap that won't rot in humidity. It costs less than a tank of gas. On a woman fighting for her life in the Appalachian wilderness, the Expedition says she was already the kind of person who spent time outside. She's not a tourist. The watch suggests competence before the script proves it.
