Ed Skrein wears an Omega Speedmaster

Early in The Transporter Refueled, Frank Martin finishes a fight with a roomful of thugs in a parking garage, and before he drops the last one he glances at his watch and remarks that he does not want to be late. Ed Skrein plays this new Frank, taking the wheel from Jason Statham in Camille Delamarre's 2015 reboot. The watch he checks is an Omega Speedmaster Professional on a black NATO strap.

It is the Moonwatch, the hand-wound chronograph Omega qualified for NASA in the 1960s and that went to the lunar surface with Apollo 11 in 1969. Black dial, three subdials, a tachymeter bezel, here on a fabric strap rather than its steel bracelet.

The Omega is a clean break from the franchise's past. Jason Statham's Frank Martin wore Panerai, a PAM074 in the 2002 original and the brand again through the sequels and the Expendables films, until the reboot dropped it. Writing for the watch site Fratello, the author judged it an upgrade for the slimmed-down reboot: the Moonwatch suits a fitted suit better than a bulky Panerai, especially on a tall, lean lead.
