Donnie Yen wears a Carl F. Bucherer Pocket Watch

Caine, the assassin Donnie Yen plays in John Wick: Chapter 4, is blind and retired, and the High Table brings him back the only way it can, by threatening to murder his daughter. He is an old friend of Wick's. When the Marquis needs a proxy for the duel at Sacre-Coeur he chooses a reluctant Caine, and through two rounds of pistols at sunrise the two friends wound each other before the matter resolves. The Harbinger grants Caine and his daughter their freedom from the High Table; after the credits, as he goes to reunite with her in Paris, a knife-wielding Akira is waiting. In the film's most quoted insert of him, Caine's hand holds an open gold pocket watch on a chain: a hunter case, a white dial with dark numerals and slim hands, and, set inside the lid, a small portrait of his daughter. Second Movement, the journal that tracks Carl F. Bucherer's screen placements, logged it: in Chapter Four, alongside the classic Manero AutoDate, there is a glimpse of a vintage-looking Carl F. Bucherer pocket watch. The brand's deal with the franchise is official and Stahelski has been a Carl F. Bucherer ambassador for years, so the pocket piece arrived through the same door as the wristwatches. Collector databases offer more detail about the build, but nothing with a published source behind it.

The frame verifies the part that matters. The slow business of a pocket watch, a chain unhooked, a lid snapped open, a beat the camera agrees to hold, gets its moment in a film that otherwise never stops moving. And the lid holds a portrait of the daughter the High Table threatened. Caine is blind, and he carries her picture where he cannot see it.
