In Training Day, Denzel Washington's Alonzo Harris is corrupt enough to flash money, street-smart enough not to flash too much. His watch has not been identified, which is a shame because Alonzo's accessories are part of his performance. The leather jacket, the gold, the Monte Cristo cigar — everything signals a man who takes his cut and wears it. Washington won the Oscar for this role, his second, and Antoine Fuqua shot it like a thriller even though it is really a character study. Whatever Alonzo wears on his wrist, it would tell you something about how he sees himself — and how much of the department's money he has been skimming.
