Dennis Quaid wears an Omega Speedmaster

Gregory Hoblit directed Frequency (2000) from Toby Emmerich's script; Emmerich's brother Noah plays Frank's friend Gordo. The premise is clean: a 1969 Queens firefighter, Frank Sullivan, and his grown son in 1999, played by Jim Caviezel, find they can talk across thirty years over a ham radio during a freak aurora. When the son warns Frank away from the warehouse fire that killed him, the timeline bends and a serial killer survives who should not have. The film made about $68 million against a $31 million budget.

Frank wears an Omega Speedmaster Professional. Omega had supplied the watch to NASA since 1965, and by the time the film's 1969 scenes take place it had already been worn on the moon that July, on Buzz Aldrin's wrist during Apollo 11. The Speedmaster was a working professional's chronograph then, within reach of a civil-servant salary, and its tachymeter bezel could time an interval at a glance. Frank's is as Omega built them in that era: a steel case, black dial, three sub-dials, and a tachymeter bezel.
