John Carpenter made Prince of Darkness (1987) as the middle film of his "Apocalypse Trilogy," between The Thing and In the Mouth of Madness. He wrote the screenplay under the pseudonym Martin Quatermass, a nod to Nigel Kneale's Quatermass serials, around an unsettling premise: a canister of swirling green liquid in the basement of an abandoned Los Angeles church turns out to be Satan in physical form. Donald Pleasence plays the priest who summons a team of graduate students and physicists to study it, and Dennis Dun plays Walter, one of the researchers trapped inside when things go wrong.

The watch on Walter has been identified as a yellow-gold Rolex Day-Date, the dress Rolex worn on its President bracelet. That comes from a single enthusiast source and is hard to confirm from the available footage, so it remains unverified.
