The Shinola Rambler Tachymeter Chrono is a 45mm Detroit-assembled chronograph with a tachymetric scale around the bezel, two subdials, and enough wrist presence to hold its own on Dave Bautista's forearm, which is saying something. Bautista wears it as J.J., a CIA operative demoted to surveillance duty after a botched mission in Peter Segal's 2020 family comedy. J.J. gets assigned to watch a mother and daughter and instead gets roped into the nine-year-old Sophie's life when she discovers his hidden cameras and blackmails him into teaching her spy techniques. Chloe Coleman plays Sophie, and the two have a genuinely good odd-couple chemistry.
In the image, Bautista and Coleman stand in an elevator holding ice cream cones, which is about as far from a CIA thriller as a scene can get. The Shinola is visible on Bautista's left wrist, dark-dialed and chunky on a steel bracelet. Shinola, based in Detroit, launched in 2011 with the pitch that American manufacturing still meant something. The Rambler, inspired by land-speed record holder Craig Breedlove, is one of their sportier models. It is a prop department choice that makes sense for J.J., American-made, oversized, tough-looking, and not expensive enough to break character for a mid-level government employee. No trusted editorial publication has covered the film's wardrobe, so the identification is community-level and the confidence stays Likely.
