"Shall we play a game?" is what the computer asks, and it turns out the game is Global Thermonuclear War. John Badham directed WarGames (1983), where Matthew Broderick plays a teenage hacker who accidentally connects to NORAD's defense computer and starts a simulation that the military mistakes for a real Soviet first strike. Dabney Coleman plays McKittrick, the NORAD systems engineer who championed the automated defense system and then has to watch it nearly end the world. Coleman was good at playing smug authority figures — 9 to 5, Tootsie — and McKittrick is another one, a man so confident in his technology that he cannot process the possibility it might be wrong.
A watch is visible on Coleman's wrist as he stands at the NORAD command console with a phone to his ear. The image shows him in shirt and vest, looking worried, which is how McKittrick spends most of the film's second half. The watch cannot be identified from this angle.
