Colman Domingo wears a Fossil

Victor Strand arrives in Fear the Walking Dead already cornered. He turns up in the fifth episode of the first season, "Cobalt," detained by the military, and spends a pair of his cufflinks to keep a feverish Nick Clark, taken by the guards for infected, from being killed. Colman Domingo plays him as the show's most watchable figure, a con man and businessman who treats the end of the world as a negotiation and refuses to let it lower his standards of dress. The suit, the sunglasses, the cufflinks, the watch: these are his working capital, the part of him that still says money after the money is gone.

The watch is a Fossil. Propstore sold it in 2025 in a single lot of Strand's accessories, sunglasses and cufflinks and a lapel pin beside it, and though the listing never named the brand, the dial does. It is a two-tone chronograph, steel and gold, a white face under a coin-edge gold bezel with gold Arabic numerals around the rim. Three small registers sit inside it, running seconds at six, a thirty-minute counter, and a twenty-four-hour dial, with a date window next to the FOSSIL name on the right. It is a lot of watch to take in at a glance, which is the job.

It is also a fashion watch. Fossil is an American company out of Dallas, founded in 1984, and it built its name on quartz watches made to look more expensive than they cost. A two-tone chronograph like this one sells new for about 150 dollars. On a man who survives by being believed, that is exactly the right watch. It reads as gold across a crowded room, and it is mostly steel and quartz.
