William Goldman wrote the screenplay for Absolute Power (1997), adapting David Baldacci's novel. Clint Eastwood directed and starred as Luther Whitney, a master thief who witnesses the President of the United States involved in a death during a robbery, then has to survive long enough to prove it. Gene Hackman plays the President.
Whitney wears a Victorinox Swiss Army watch, a practical Swiss tool piece rather than anything flashy. The exact model is not clear on screen. A plain, dependable watch fits a thief whose whole method is going unnoticed, and Eastwood, who wore a Rolex GMT-Master across several of his own films, gives Whitney something far quieter here.
