Claude Brasseur wears a Rolex Submariner

Gérard Pirès's Attention les yeux! (1976), released in English as Let's Make a Dirty Movie, is a comedy about a young director who wanted to film Stendhal and ends up shooting pornography instead. Claude Brasseur plays Manuel Cauchois, who sets out to adapt The Charterhouse of Parma, finds no money for it, and takes the only job on offer: directing a skin flick whose title is a pun on the novel he meant to make. Guy Marchand plays Bob Panzani. The jokes come from the distance between what Cauchois wanted to make and what he is making.

The watch is named as a Rolex Submariner, though the identification is thin. No watch site has written up this film, the only source given is Rolex's general page for the model, and the Submariner is not visible in the one production still that survives. Rolex introduced the Submariner in 1953 as a diver's watch, water-resistant to 200 metres in its mid-1970s form, with a luminous dial and a rotating bezel for timing a dive. A real Rolex would be a lot of watch for a director scraping by on a pornographer's budget, which is the kind of joke the film might be making, but the watch stays a plausible guess rather than a confirmed sighting.
