Christopher Lee wears an IWC

The IWC on Lord Summerisle's wrist was Christopher Lee's own watch, or at least came out of Lee's estate after his death in 2015 with documented provenance to the film. Robin Hardy's The Wicker Man (1973) was a low-budget British production. Actors often brought their own clothes, and Lee, a serious watch enthusiast in real life, wore his Swiss dress watch into a Scottish pagan ritual film without anyone changing it for the part.

Lee plays Summerisle as a pagan aristocrat who rules a Scottish island where the old religion never died. He sings, he dances, he explains the harvest to Edward Woodward's horrified Christian policeman, and he does it all wearing an IWC. The contrast between the character's barefoot, flower-crowned paganism and the Swiss precision on his wrist is accidental but fitting. Summerisle is no primitive. He is educated, articulate, and completely aware of what he is doing.

The specific IWC reference has never been publicly documented. When Prop Store auctioned the watch from Lee's estate, the listing identified it only as an IWC Schaffhausen on a black crocodile strap, one of the actor's own favorites, and noted that the same watch turns up in other films he made, including Gremlins 2: The New Batch and Return from Witch Mountain. A reverse-image claim on a forum that the watch is really a Sicura Chrono Computer runs against the auction house's direct estate provenance, so it stays an IWC at the brand level, its exact model unrecorded.
