Christian Slater wears a MTM Black Patriot

For nine episodes in the fall of 2008, Christian Slater played two men who shared one body on NBC. Henry Spivey is a mild efficiency expert in the suburbs, married to Angie and raising two kids, with no notion that he has another life. Edward Albright is a covert operative, fluent in thirteen languages and trained to kill, run by a secret agency called Janus. A chip in Slater's head keeps the two from meeting, switching whichever man is awake and filling the lost hours with manufactured memories. The pilot is about the chip breaking. The wall between the personalities comes down, and the two start to bleed into one another.

Janus is the Roman god of doorways, the one whose two faces point in opposite directions, which is a heavy name for a network spy drama to carry. NBC gave it almost no room. The cancellation came after the fourth episode aired in mid-November, and the rest were burned off through December 15, so all nine that were shot eventually ran.

By MTM Special Ops' own account, the watch is its Black Patriot, and it reads as Edward's rather than Henry's. Henry would wear whatever the department store sold him. Edward wears the tactical piece: a 44mm case in blacked-out 316L steel, a sapphire crystal over a carbon-fiber dial, water resistance to 200 meters behind a screw-down crown, a Miyota quartz chronograph inside. The hands glow on Super-LumiNova, the lume you charge under a lamp and watch fade in the dark, while MTM keeps its self-powered tritium tubes for other models. It is far more watch than an efficiency expert needs, which is the tell. The watch stays the same while the man wearing it keeps changing.
