The Russo Brothers adapted Simon Stalenhag's illustrated novel The Electric State as a Netflix film set in an alternate 1990s, after a war between humans and sentient robots that the robots lost. Chris Pratt plays Keats, a smuggler who agrees to help a teenager, played by Millie Bobby Brown, cross a ruined American West to find her missing brother. The production dresses retro-analog design over large VFX set pieces, and Keats is the scruffier, less quippy end of Pratt's range.

On Keats's wrist is a Panerai Luminor Marina Carbotech, reference PAM01664, the Blu Notte edition, its blue sun-brushed dial worn on a thick black leather cuff rather than the stock strap. Carbotech is Panerai's carbon-fiber composite, thin sheets compressed under heat and pressure, so each matte black case comes out with its own marbled grain. In the still the dial sits low under a riveted cuff, stacked beside a silver chain, the Luminor crown guard catching the light. The matte case and lightweight build give it a military-surplus look that fits the film's used-future world.
