Crime 101 is Bart Layton's adaptation of a Don Winslow novella, with Chris Hemsworth cast against type as Mike Davis, a careful Los Angeles jewel thief who works the 101 freeway and plans his robberies to avoid violence and leave nothing behind. Mark Ruffalo plays the detective who has spent years convinced that one disciplined man is behind a string of jobs. Amazon MGM put the film in theaters in February 2026.
On Davis's wrist, all through the film, is a steel Rolex Submariner, the no-date version, the plainest and most recognizable dive watch there is. The French site Montres de Luxe, which logged most of the cast's Rolexes, identifies it as a steel Submariner the camera lingers on. In the street shot here, Davis rests his wrist on a black muscle car with the watch in plain view: black dial, black dive bezel, steel Oyster bracelet.
There is a small irony in the casting. Hemsworth spent years as the face of TAG Heuer, and here he plays a man whose taste runs to a Rolex. No one has pinned the exact reference, but on screen it reads unmistakably as a steel Submariner.
