Most of Section 9, the counter-terror unit in Ghost in the Shell (2017), has swapped flesh for hardware, with synthetic bodies and brains wired straight to the network. Chin Han plays Togusa, the holdout. He keeps a cyberbrain and little else, his body still mostly his own, and Chin Han called him the only member of the team who is wholly human and proud of it, the last bastion of the old world. On his wrist is a Casio.

It is a Casio Databank, the steel DBC-1500, and it is a small computer in its own right. The dial reads Multi Lingual Data Bank beneath the word Illuminator. The caseback lists Telememo 25, a calculator, dual time, five alarms, and thirteen languages. Casio built it around 1992 on module 1477, a stainless slab with a full keypad where another watch would keep its hour markers. Togusa, the analog man, wears the most gadget-laden thing on the team.

The actual watch survives. Propstore sold Togusa's screen-used stunt version in 2018 with a certificate of authenticity, its inner display cracked across the middle and the caseback hand-labeled TOGUSA Stunt. The original wardrobe tag came with it, marked Togusa, scene 64, Chin Han. So the most human member of Section 9 spends the film with a small computer on his wrist, a Casio from the early 1990s that runs a calculator and stores a few phone numbers. His teammates have replaced far more than that.
