Elmore Leonard wrote Mr. Majestyk, and you can feel it. The 1974 film has the same stripped-down, don't-waste-my-time energy as Leonard's novels — a melon farmer who happens to be a Vietnam veteran crosses paths with a Mafia hitman and refuses to back down. Charles Bronson plays Vince Majestyk, and Richard Fleischer directed. Al Lettieri is Frank Renda, the hitman, and Linda Cristal plays Nancy Chavez, a migrant worker who becomes Majestyk's ally. The plot is simple: Majestyk wants to harvest his watermelons. The mob wants him dead. He won't run.
In the image, Bronson aims a shotgun in a melon field, wearing a dark jacket and brown cap. Workers stand behind him. A watch is barely visible on his wrist under the shotgun grip, and it hasn't been identified beyond a general description as a steel watch. Whatever it is, it fits the character — Majestyk is a man whose wardrobe comes from work, not from shopping.
