Chadwick Boseman wears a Bell & Ross BRS 92

Bell & Ross is the watch company that looks like a cockpit. Its signature piece, the square BR 01, is a steel slab with four screws at the corners, designed to read like an instrument lifted off an aircraft panel. Which is why the watch on Andre Davis, the NYPD detective Chadwick Boseman plays in 21 Bridges, is a quiet surprise. It is a Bell & Ross, but a round one, a BR S from the brand's Vintage line, the dress watch in a catalog otherwise full of gauges, steel-cased with a dark dial on a tan leather strap.

A French watch magazine, Montres de Luxe, ran the spot and named it a Bell & Ross BR S 92 Golden Heritage in steel. The watch-spotting sites filled in the rest: a satin case, a small date tucked between four and five, and the gold-stitched tan calfskin strap you can see on his wrist, a watch that retails around three thousand dollars. None of them can tell you why Davis wears it. There is no costume interview and no prop note, just the watch on the wrist of a detective chasing cop-killers across a Manhattan sealed shut for the night.
