Cary Grant wears an unidentified watch

The steel watch on Walter Eckland's wrist is one of the few signs that this South Pacific beachcomber wasn't always a dropout. Cary Grant plays him in Father Goose, Ralph Nelson's 1964 WWII comedy about a whiskey-drinking loner who gets drafted as an Allied coast watcher. Grant was sixty and two films from retirement, and Nelson lets him play against the tailored leading man image — unshaven, grubby, and annoyed when Leslie Caron's French schoolteacher shows up with seven young students.

The watch is steel and visible in several scenes, including the water sequences with Caron. Grant was a devoted Cartier Tank wearer in real life, but Eckland wouldn't own a dress watch.
