Paul Thomas Anderson was twenty-six when he wrote and directed Boogie Nights, his second feature, with a cast that included Mark Wahlberg, Julianne Moore, Don Cheadle, Philip Seymour Hoffman, William H. Macy, and Heather Graham. Set in the San Fernando Valley pornography business of the late 1970s and early 1980s, the film puts Burt Reynolds at its center as Jack Horner, a producer who genuinely believes he is making cinema rather than smut. Reynolds earned the only Oscar nomination of his career for the part.

On Horner's wrist, BAMF Style identifies a yellow gold Rolex Datejust with a deep blue dial, a diamond at every hour, and a matching diamond-set bezel, all on an unusual gold five-piece bracelet rather than the familiar Jubilee. The sword-shaped hands date it to the late 1950s or early 1960s, and BAMF raises the possibility that it was Reynolds' own watch rather than a costume piece. It is gold and diamonds, not the quiet steel Datejust that usually stands in for understated success.
