In Aloha, Brian Gilcrest comes home to Hawaii in a lei and a very large watch. Bradley Cooper plays him as a former Air Force officer turned defense contractor, back on the islands to oversee a billionaire's satellite launch. Cameron Crowe wrote and directed. The watch, on Gilcrest's wrist through most of the film, is an IWC Big Pilot.
The Big Pilot, reference IW500901, is 46mm of steel with a soft-iron inner cage to shield the movement from magnetic fields, an oversized conical crown made to be wound with gloves on, and the plain black dial IWC has put on cockpit watches since the 1930s. The big numerals and the triangle at twelve are there so a pilot can read it at a glance.
The watch was not much of a stretch to cast. Bradley Cooper is a real IWC man, photographed in the Big Pilot at Wimbledon and on red carpets, and the brand made it official in 2018 by signing him as an ambassador. The watch on Gilcrest's wrist is the one Cooper actually wears, on a character whose resume happens to call for it.
