Nobody can understand a word Mickey O'Neil says, including the other characters. Guy Ritchie's Snatch (2000) casts Brad Pitt as an Irish Traveller bare-knuckle boxer whose accent is so impenetrable that Ritchie deploys subtitles as a running joke. Jason Statham narrates as Turkish, a small-time boxing promoter who makes the mistake of recruiting Mickey for a fixed fight. Mickey is supposed to go down in the fourth round. He does not.
The Invicta Pro Diver Scuba on Pitt's wrist is a watch that retails for about $50 and looks like it costs ten times that. Invicta built their business on making large, visually aggressive watches at disposable prices, and the Pro Diver, with its coin-edge bezel and Submariner-inspired layout, is their bestseller. It is a lot of flash for very little money, which is exactly right for a Traveller who lives in a caravan and makes his living with his fists. Mickey is not pretending to be wealthy. He just wants something shiny that can survive a fight. The watch works because it matches the character: overbuilt, unsophisticated, and basically indestructible.
