Bernard Blier wears a Cartier Tank

Yves Robert's Le grand blond avec une chaussure noire (1972) is a French spy farce. Pierre Richard plays François Perrin, a violinist with mismatched shoes who is picked at random and made to look like a master agent. Bernard Blier plays Colonel Milan, the ambitious deputy of the counter-espionage service, whose men shadow Perrin in the belief that he is the real thing.

Blier wears a yellow gold Cartier Tank that, by the accounts of French watch writers, was his own rather than a prop, a piece he wore across several of his films of the period. Cartier introduced the Tank in 1917, when Louis Cartier modeled its rectangular case on the overhead view of a Renault tank.
