Bernard Blier wears a Cartier Tank

I Hate Actors (Je hais les acteurs, 1986) is a black-and-white comic whodunit that Gérard Krawczyk set in 1940s Hollywood, where the leading men of a film studio keep turning up murdered. Bernard Blier, one of the great French character actors, plays Jerome B. Cobb, the studio boss who presides over the chaos.

Cobb is reported to wear a gold Cartier Tank. Louis Cartier designed the Tank in 1917, its flat rectangular case and brancards said to echo the tracks of a Renault tank seen from above, and it has been a benchmark of the understated dress watch ever since.
